"Child abuse is not an isolated incident, it does not happen without the collusion of a family, a group, a community, a village, a city, a town, a country, the world." NCS
It doesn't matter how many articles you read about child abuse, in what setting or what country they are in, the result is always the same. A big cover up operation always happens and victims are discredited.
Survivors of child abuse often relate stories of how they are isolated by their abuser, abused in secret and alone. This kind of abuse makes the survivor imagine they are the only one who has been abused. Often this first instance of singled out, your special, abuse is nothing other than procurement for something much larger. These 'isolated incidents' are rare. Most paedos work in groups and for groups, part of a huge ring, procurers for the group.
In large establishments, schools, religions , sports, all organisations without exceptions, etc etc, if the abusers are found out within these groups, the whole unit acts in unison against the victim and enables and hides the abuser. Now why would they do this if they were not all involved in someway? When abuse becomes public, in order to hide the ring, a small fish is thrown into the sea. Some lone wolf 'acting alone' is thrown to the dogs as appeasement for the larger public, a salve to their fury.
Child abuse survivors are not fooled once they speak out about their abuse. They see with startling clarity that this is an enormous worldwide problem, The lone paedo is rare. The organised rings are not rare but are in every walk of society. Children are big money, a commodity, a means of blackmailing adults.Young minds can be made to forget, scared into silence. The abusers know this. Should victims have flashbacks, always in later life, they will be discredited as liars and fantasists. And so nothing is ever solved.
Enquiry after enquiry. Cover up after cover up. They hope it will all blow away. Now it is in the open people assume that it is all historic, that it is not even happening today, or indeed in the same places it happened historically. Things have not changed apart from the fact that we can read about it now. There is no justice, not enough. Fake witnesses are brought out to discredited survivors stories. If one is telling a lie they all must be, that game. Or they are discredited as money grabbers looking for compensation, as if that would make it all right. Many survivors waive their right to compensation even though they need it for their recovery, which cost thousands and never ends.
Child abuse is not an isolated incident, it does not happen without the collusion of a family, a group, a community, a village, a city, a town, a country, the world. It is enabled or it would not be happening. It is enabled or it would be much more shocking to people. They would get incensed and outraged. But I see only a few brave people holding demonstrations against that.
One of the biggest crisis of humanity is child abuse because it breaks people. It turns children who start off as a clean slate, a future citizen of the world, into a damaged adult. The effect of this not only hurts one person but all those around them. The sheer cost of healing these people grows by the day. Mental health services are stretched beyond imagination. Hospitals are full of survivors left with illness of body. Just try to imagine what this does to those abused. The legacy lasts a lifetime. In the meantime abusers run free and are hidden and enabled. No one is held accountable. Shame and blame is pointed at the vitims.
To recover from child abuse in any small way is a huge step. Most of the survivors I have spoken to have been lovely people who through no fault of their own were damaged by their abuse, many are left with mental and physical disorders and problems. Yet still they manage to brave their stories, brave going public. Some don't even survive. Many don't live to tell their stories. So I ask you this. Why are you enabling abusive adults to abuse? Why are you turning a blind eye to what you see? Is it because you are afraid to lose something if you do, afraid to be shunned as survivors are when they speak out?
Child abuse is happening in our streets right now. How long can we keep turning our backs on this problem. Isn't it just as important to march for this attrocity as anything else? Is there an answer or do we just let it go on and take the consequences/ It is not right is it, what is happening to our children, who as adults we are responsible for. We are not doing our jobs. If it is meant to be one world then it should include all citizens. Children have rights too.
